After The Fact is a series of 'virtual reality' training and assessment CD-ROMs developed by MeccaMedialight for the National Institute of Forensic Science together with the combined police services and forces in Australia.

The After the Fact program has been developed by senior forensic personnel representing all Australian States and Territories. Each member of the development team has extensive experience, both as a practitioner and as a manager within the discipline of crime scene investigation.
After the Fact allows the investigator 'to walk through' a crime scene and provides for realistic scene processing, including photography, note taking, collection, labeling and packaging of items of interest. A series of questions are presented to the investigator allowing for both self assessment and external peer assessment.
The assessment version allows for external assessment of the participant in all aspects of crime scene investigation. The investigator examines the scene and then answers a series of questions using the information obtained from the scene. The answers are saved and forwarded for external assessment.
In addition to viewing the answers to questions completed by the investigator, the audit trail allows the assessor to view the notes taken by the investigator, the photographs taken and the evidence collected. The audit trail also allows the assessor to examine the process by which the scene was examined.
